A brief Savage 2 installation guide for 32 bit and 64 bit Ubuntu Linux.
When i download files from the internet they land on my desktop. So the secound line should be changed if you download files to elsewhere. Also, the version of Savage 2 at the time of writing this is Savage2Install-1.5.0. If the version you download is different you will have to change the path to the savage .bin file.
32 Bit
Enter the following lines into terminal.
mkdir ~/.Games
cd ~/Desktop
chmod +x Savage2Install-1.5.0-x86_32.bin
./Savage2Install-1.5.0-x86_32.bin
You will now get a graphical installer. It will ask you for a destination to install, if you just click next it will install and be visible in your home file so just change the destination path to /home/USERNAME/.Games/Savage2. That way it will install into your hidden ./games file.
64 bit
Enter the following lines into terminal.
mkdir ~/.Games
cd ~/Desktop
chmod +x Savage2Install-1.5.0-x86_64.bin
./Savage2Install-1.5.0-x86_64.bin
You will now get a graphical installer. It will ask you for a destination to install, if you just click next it will install and be visible in your home file so just change the destination path to /home/USERNAME/.Games/Savage2. That way it will install into your hidden ./games file.
Savage 2 should now appear in your games menu. Now go kick some smelly humans about! GO BEAST! ^^

I’m having a super hard time with this… I’m not too new to linux, and I know my way around the command line alright but the chmod goes fine for me but when I try to actually execute the file it says “jeffrey@jeffrey-mobile:~/Desktop$ ./Savage2Install-2.1.0-i686.bin
bash: ./Savage2Install-2.1.0-i686.bin: Permission denied”
Then I assumed Permission denied meant I needed root privileges. Then this happens “jeffrey@jeffrey-mobile:~/Desktop$ sudo ./Savage2Install-2.1.0-i686.bin
sudo: ./Savage2Install-2.1.0-i686.bin: command not found”
I’m at a total stand still and I used to play this game on my old PC but I can’t get this one to work

Ooof havent looked here for ages…
@ Jensen
sudo: ./Savage2Install-2.1.0-i686.bin: command not foundโ
Remove the : after sudo. It should just be :
sudo ./Savage2Install-2.1.0-i686.bin

@ anyone with Avidals problem, i need some more info than just ‘goes down’. Describe the problem.

@Nai
Sorry about that. I should have specified input from output.
Input command was: sudo ./Savage2Install-2.1.0-i686.bin
Output from that: sudo: ./Savage2Install-2.1.0-i686.bin: command not found
I am wondering if I need some sort of library files installed and it’s not recognizing the [ ./ ] part of the code or I have some lib file installed I shouldn’t have which is conflicting. I would really hate to reformat and reinstall Kubuntu lol

All you have to do is install it under /usr directory. From there you should be able to run it normally.

How do i connect to Savage 2 server through a proxy server. I am connected to internet through a proxy in my college. Savage 2 shows errors like:
update failed
cannot log in connection failed.
I am using Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit version.
