Life after Destiny for the pup

Ok, Destiny broke up and reformed with new management the other day as i said. I was still freinds with most of the girls untill one night im standing in the new Destiny and a blatant alt character comes in and starts speaking in way that was an obvious attempt at seeing if i was passing messages to the new club formed by Mags Indigo and Leelou Morigi. She later turns up at Mags and Lees club and continues to pretend shes not an alt. Then I had an attempts made on me to mine me for information.*takes breath* Gave me the arse so bad i left and havent spoken to them scince. I mean come on, we were all such good freinds and they starting doing that petty crap to me? Blah! Silly folks! Just lost a good loyal freind.

I wont be going back to Destiny now. When the magic is gone and folk stop treating you like a person, its time to move on.

In my case i will be moving onto Mags and Lees new club, The Blue Moon Bordello. I will provide the SLurl later on. Its gone back to being about atmosphere more than money, more about being a good fun strip and escort club than a money driven business. Saying that the takings on the first 3 days have been good and we arnt officially open yet! The grand opening is tonight and we have Clairede Dirval playing for us *yays!*. I even have a new avatar (gone from being a tiny pup to a huge giant doggy ^^).

I will post more details on the club later today. Clairede will be playing at 2pm SL time (10pm UK time). I took my best picture in an online game which im eager to get up on flickr, so i will post that later on too. Its been a busy and emotional week but im looking to a happy online future 🙂

Destiny breaks up

The best club in Second Life closed this week. I know i will be a tad bias as i work there but honestly Destiny realy was one of a kind.

There was a disagreement between managers that could not be resolved. That caused a split and it was decided to close the club. It got worse however the next night when fighting and rumor spreading broke out. To spare the gory details, Destiny as it was is gone. Millie is running a new Destiny. It just wont be the same without Lee and Mags.

Mags and Leelou are currently homeless as are masses of girls caught in the middle. Could sound dramatic but a sea of tears has been shed for Destiny this week.

I walked out last night quite bitterly with much resentment towards old friends.

Anywhos, ive stopped crying into my keyboard long enough to make a post, ill get some piccys up of good memory’s there when i get a minute.

Dofus 1.27 released!

Yes its been released! Wooooo! My Eni’s having a few issues solo’ing now… Booooo! >.< Blah, its all good though. Sacriers took the biggest team hit, but they are much better solo now.

The was a change to vitality / health that i like, you now get 5 health per level. You don’t get a refund for all the points you spent in vitality on older characters though. The downside is, you take un-healable damage in fights now. Well, i say downside, it does mean you cant have the 2 Eni’s everlasting fight situation anymore.

Theres also new special skills for all the classes. Meaning theres an equivalent of Felination for every class thats available at the temples. You have to beat your dopple to get it.

Heres a link to the Dofus websites details of the new update : LINKY

Hope to see you ingame!

Destiny has the new look!

Last week i announced Destiny’s grand re opening. Due to hectic life i didn’t get around to saying how it went. Well, it was awesome! I don’t think i have seen so many people turn up at a club that isn’t a free trashy place ever!

The girls played vintage music for half the night. Then Clairede Dirval came on and played an absolutely cracking gig! She bought along a dancing kitty freind with a swishing tail to entertain us (she was quite fun actually ^^).

Like i said it was packed for the whole night. I took some screenies of the event for your viewing pleasure. If your ever passing through Second Life, stop in and give our new club (and the girls) a good look over. ^^

Savage 2 : Ubuntu Linux Installation Guide

A brief Savage 2 installation guide for 32 bit and 64 bit Ubuntu Linux.

When i download files from the internet they land on my desktop. So the secound line should be changed if you download files to elsewhere. Also, the version of Savage 2 at the time of writing this is Savage2Install-1.5.0. If the version you download is different you will have to change the path to the savage .bin file.

32 Bit

Enter the following lines into terminal.

mkdir ~/.Games
cd ~/Desktop
chmod +x Savage2Install-1.5.0-x86_32.bin
./Savage2Install-1.5.0-x86_32.bin

You will now get a graphical installer. It will ask you for a destination to install, if you just click next it will install and be visible in your home file so just change the destination path to /home/USERNAME/.Games/Savage2. That way it will install into your hidden ./games file.

64 bit

Enter the following lines into terminal.

mkdir ~/.Games
cd ~/Desktop
chmod +x Savage2Install-1.5.0-x86_64.bin
./Savage2Install-1.5.0-x86_64.bin

You will now get a graphical installer. It will ask you for a destination to install, if you just click next it will install and be visible in your home file so just change the destination path to /home/USERNAME/.Games/Savage2. That way it will install into your hidden ./games file.

Savage 2 should now appear in your games menu. Now go kick some smelly humans about! GO BEAST! ^^

Once again Clairede sang at Destiny in Second Life, and once again she sounded awesome! Some of our fave songs of the night were:~

Black Horse and the Cherry Tree (the night wouldnt be complete without it!)
Ill sleep if you drive
Pretty woman (sounds so good with her voice! ^^ )
Boots are made for walking (Destiny’s theme tune ^^ )
Don’t Want To Fall In Love (Sounded incredible! Had some of us in tears >.<,)
Lord wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz (Fantastic finish to a fantastic night!)

Seriously, Clairede Dirval, if you ever download Second Life, look her up, go and listen to her singing! Shes fantastic!

Paying for games on Linux rant

Thats it, my hackles are up! Ive got the hump!

Now this is only a small part of the community that i am angry with, World of Goo is a good example of how willing the Linux community are when it comes to shelling out for games ported to Linux.

I have seen the odd petition’s from company’s that are thinking of porting a game to Linux. A lot of people sign them for the sake of signing them to get a game on Linux. Other people make a lot of names up and sign the petition multiple times.

This is wrong! Utterly damned wrong! If it takes a lot of work, effort, time and money into make or port a game to Linux. If a company starts porting games to Linux based on fudged petitions they will quickly find it non profitable and stop doing it. Worse, in this current economic climate, they could put to much money into it and go bust. Imagine that, a company losing time, money, and effort in a project based on a fudged petition where not even half the names on the petition buy the game or are made up.

Its like a mate asking you to make something for them, perhaps build a scratch built model and he will buy it off you. You spend 6 months making it, pay for all the materials, and do the best damn job you can on it. Then when your finished you mate backs down and doesn’t pay up. He says ‘nahh i do not want it now’. You would be furious wouldn’t you?

So imagine how a games publishing company would feel making a game for Linux based on a whole community saying they will pay for it. Then after doing all the work and putting all the money into it, nobody buys it.

Blah! If your not going to pay for a game, do not sign a petition for it to be ported to Linux. Its wrong!

/Rant over

Sorry for that ^^ Carry on with your day now ^^

My job in Second Life

So i have made a few posts about earning money in my favourite Linux MMO, Second Life now. From a newbies guide to my mate Kendall Larnia who is an in-game fashion designer and model. But i have never really said what i do for linden dollars in SL.

Well, i am a guard puppy and DJ in Destiny strip and escort club. its a friendly place, not a seedy sex shop like a lot of places in SL. We often think of it as more of a venue rather than an actual strip club. We have live music played by proper performing artists streamed into the club some nights. Other nights we have DJ’s spinning tunes. All sorts!

Anywhos, i met the girls about 6-8 months ago. I was loitering about in one of my old ‘give SL a try every 2-3 months’ rounds. I had been chatting to a number of 3D modelers who were into Blender. They opened my eyes to the things that were in Second Life. Before then i thought it was just a big chat room. Because of these guys i realized there were artists, musicians, role-play Sims, combat Sims (areas that play like Quake). I was enthralled and wanted to know more.

I then met and got chatting to an Alexandra Smesh, she got me to the Destiny club and got me to return. Being pee poor i just sorta returned and had a laugh, but always felt bad about never tipping the girls. They never gave me a show, so all was good.

After a few months the owner screwed the girls over for a lot of money, and bear in mind SL money translates to RL money on the stock exchange, it was a real crappy thing of him to do. They had a rough few months as their old venue went with its owner and they moved to a new location. I followed and carried on twittering away to them. I offered to set up and maintain a blog for them. A sort of thanks for putting up with me. I was quite surprised at the time (and touched actually) when they said they were thankful to have me about. They said i provided a lot of light relief. I was more surprised when they said they wanted to offer me a job as a guard dog. They gave me moderating rights over the property and the ability to kick / eject / ban people.

That was my first job in SL, and the first time i ever really had much money at all. A while after i learned how to use Shoutcast, as i said before the club has a Shoutcast broadcasting unit in, so i started DJ’ing for the club. I have been DJ’ing now for a few months and brings me in the penny’s. ^^

So, the moral of my story was, hang out with people, hang out in places you like. If the owners like you, when you have some SL skills, you might get a job there. If your lucky enough to work somewhere as successful as me, and as nice as me, you may have a job for a long time there. ^^ One thing i can say about this job though, i have always enjoyed myself so much playing around, it has never ever felt like a job. I just act silly, have fun, provide comic relief, and i make a bit of money out of it. Great stuffs! ^^

If you want to come see me, i can be found at Destiny most nights. If you want to come on a night i DJ, im on Monday nights at 2pm Second Life time (about 10pm UK time). Follow the SLurl below for our location! ^^
